Learning to Live in the Moment

Hey guys! Welcome to RNF and we hope you guys have been enjoying the first episode of Season 3 so far! The goal for our first episode was to assure you guys that it’s okay to not have a life plan! Saying “I don’t know” is just as good as having a definitive answer (because it is one!). The biggest thing I have been paying attention to since we recorded is that the present is what matters right now and the future is something we have no control over, and to me, that’s becoming more exciting!

I used to know my next step at every “significant” moment in life, and for the first time, I have no clue what happens next. Don’t get me wrong, for some people including myself, there is a comfort in knowing your next move, but I’m learning to find comfort in the uncomfortable. Without knowing my next step, I have involuntarily become more open to the possibilities that the world has to offer. Don’t forget, that wherever you are in life you’ve come THIS far, so give yourself credit where credit is due (something I’m still working on), but it helps!

Even in the times when I knew my next step, I had this feeling that I was “behind” my friends. Even though my friends were getting jobs and/or going to graduate school, knowing that I was doing a similar thing brought me discomfort and a sense of isolation. Why? Honestly, such a good question because I was proud of myself and the next step I took. Looking back on it, I didn’t give myself gratitude and space to appreciate where I was in the moment. All this to say, I hope you guys can take a moment to yourself about where you are and if there are current challenges, as cheesy as it is….embrace them and find your accountability buddy to help workshop any difficulties with you! Mari has been the best accountability buddy and I don’t know how or what I would have been doing without her support!<3

Who cares what is happening next in life, let’s have fun now and things will eventually fall into place as you continue to learn more about who you are!
